GameBeat was founded in April of 1998 by veteran, award-winning, composer and producer Darryl Duncan. Darryl has several credits in the main stream music industry as a staff-writer for Warner Brothers and A&M records. He has written for and/or produced artists such as Michael Jackson, Jeffrey Osborne, Chaka Khan, Earth, Wind & Fire, Shanice Wilson and R. Kelly to name a few. Darryl was also signed as a solo artist to Motown records.
After several years in the main stream music industry, Darryl transitioned his career into the video gaming industry where as lead composer and sound effect designer for Electronic Arts, he was responsible for the audio in several top selling video games including John Madden Football, Microsoft’s Zoo Tycoon, Dance Dance Revolution and The Sims and many others.
Today, our clients are primarily in the advertising industry. As an established and well respected music house in the Chicago area, we have been responsible for the music in countless top advertising campaigns including McDonald’s, Toyota, Sears, Motorola, Burger King, Kraft, Wal-Mart, Proctor & Gamble, Miller Beer, Budweiser, Altoids, Kalahari Resorts and The Illinois State Lottery. Our greatest strengths are our extreme creativity and unique versatility able to cover any musical genre. We have produced music for both general market and multi-cultural market agencies, and have won 13 prestigious Addy and Telly awards for our work.
The advertising industry has transitioned into a predominately music licensing model , however, GameBeat is still very much a "custom" music house as this is where we shine the most. We have proven that there is no style or genre of music that we cannot deliver and no sonic mood we can't capture with sound effects design giving life to any broadcast, game or film project.
